Description
Take a deep look at two plant allies that have played significant roles throughout human history! The majestic olive tree and the small soft oregano plant. Both of these Mediterranean natives are powerhouses for flavor and nutrition. In addition to their respective roles in mythology and folklore and as delicious nutritive seasonings, both olive and oregano have profound scientific substantiation for their antimicrobial and immune-supportive benefits.
In this class, we will peruse healthful recipes and investigate specific actions at the cellular level of several of their active constituents, such as:
- Carvacrol – exhibits antimicrobial activity related to hydrophobicity, the presence of a free hydroxyl group;
- Phenol Moiety, which actively supports pro-apoptotic processes.
Open to all levels, from beginner to advanced.
